Like many of my brethren, I begin 2009 with a new year's resolution. Frankly, I need discipline. All sorts of discipline. Key areas of focus include limiting my sweets* intake and studying Turkish more often. Strangely, the harder of the two will be studying Turkish. Sigh. I hate learning vocabulary.
*Sweets is defined as any thing from which I derive sugary pleasure.

and .. then .. they figure out how to kock over the trash can ...
I have to say -- it took them awhile. But now they've figured out how to knock over the trash can. Most of the time I remember to lift the trash can up onto the counter when I'm gone, but tonight I forgot. AND I had emptied the vacuum cleaner catch thingy, so there was dust EVERYWHERE. Yippee.

Crazy Dogs
Step One -- Mama doesn't get home until super late (don't worry, dogwalker came at some point)
Step Two -- Dogs get antsy waiting for mama to get home
Step Three -- Dogs shred the (empty, thank God) dog food bag
Step Four -- Dogs eat a box full of granola
Step Five -- Fastforward to the next day. Dogs eat box of chocolates! (note -- chocolate = poison = crack to dogs). Thank goodness dogs are okay.
Step Six -- Fastforward to the third day. Chocolate crack effect keeps dogs crazy. They get into the trash and another box of granola. Dogwalker calls ina panick thinking its a second box of chocolate they've eaten. After trading emails and voicemail, panic is alleviated.
Today's realization -- someone I have to find roominthe budget for a dogwalker.

Work/Life Balance
This week I realized that I have zero hold on work/life balance. On the one hand I love my job. On the other hand, I'm getting phone calls from my best friends who say they feel neglected :(
My challenge is twofold -- a) I love my job but once I'm done, I just want to be by myself. Away from people. and b) what time I do have I've been giving to church. I love church. I love Sunday mornings and I love prayer. But it involves interaction with people, therefore when it's over, I just want to be by myself.
But I also don't have time to do the things I want to do for ME, like running and dropping of the drycleaning. Something's got to give.
